It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day. We are a very busy society that is driven by money , quotas and other peoples schedules. We get so focused on making everything succeed and prefect we forget sometimes to take inventory of our own happiness.
I am notorious for having great ideas and being so motivated for them to happen that I lose track of why I started it in the first place. I’m sure I’m not the only one. When I don’t see the reward of something as fast as it used to be or should be I start having doubts, which in return causes me to have high anxiety….then can lead into depression. I know not everyone has this steep of a slope but when I start to see my plan isn’t working I get worked up. I completely lose focus of why I started it in the first place.
I have come to realize that what I might have enjoyed a few years ago (or months ago) when I was trying to make it work, may be different than what I want to focus on today. Yes, it sounds scatterbrained but I also think that if you don’t try different avenues in life then you will never know what you are capable of or have talent in. In saying all this, I feel it’s important that we remember to ground ourselves every now and then. Make yourself sit and and take an emotional inventory of what is causing you stress and what is bringing you happiness.
When you look at your list, is what you are focusing on beneficial for you/ your family. Is it showing all the blood, sweat and tears you are making?
Ultimately, when you lay your head down at night are you truly happy?
